O "Blur" começou no início dos anos 1990 com uma sonoridade não muito distante das bandas que dominavam a cena britânica da época. Era uma mistura do rock psicódelico e dançante do Stone Roses e afins com as guitarras e a introspecção de bandas como o My Bloody Valentine, que fazia o estilo "shoegazer". Mas com o andamento de sua carreira o Blur desenvolveu o seu próprio estilo, resgatando elementos da música britânica e liderou uma verdadeira renovação no rock inglês, o chamado britpop, se firmando como uma das mais importantes bandas da década que abriu caminho para o sucesso de muitas outras bandas como Elastica, Pulp, Supergrass e até Oasis que mais tarde se tornariam seus rivais.
Lançou vários grandes hits famosos ate hoje como "Song 2", "Girls and Boys", "Coffe and TV" e álbuns muito consagrados e muito importantes para o mundo como Parklife (1994), The Great scape (1995), Blur. Influenciados por The Kinks, separados por seis anos voltaram em 2009 tocando no maior festival ao ar livre do mundo o Festival de Glanstonbury.
